sujan chitrakar is kathmandu based visual ARTist and ART educator who received his fine ART education from nepal and india. with numerous national and international art workshops and regular exhibitions to his credit, he practices ART extensively in public and private space — both individually and collectively.
sujan believes that ART has been widely misunderstood as it has remained either within ARTistic sophistication or inaccessible domain for public interactions. to reinstall the importance of ART in the lives of commoners, he has conceived his third solo exhibition “let’s talk about ART baby!” from the series of ARTivities a term derived from synthesis of ART and activities. he believes that the first step to inject the importance of ART is by talking about it and bringing public into the arena where they could appreciate varied contemporary or traditional ARTforms. “let’s talk about ART baby!” is the first major venture which has urged him to move further as an ARTivist and further his ARTivities in public and private spaces to propagate ART as integral to the development of a nation and for the evolution of mankind. he currently heads centre for ART and design of kathmandu university where along with his energetic colleagues, he is dedicated to develop new generation of ART practitioners in the field of fine ART and visual communication.
